Another Successful Barter

My friend Lisa gave us a huge pile of uniform separates for my daughter to wear to her Montessori kindergarten and, in exchange, I did a photo shoot of her lovely daughter. I rented a 70-200 Canon lens and let L prance around in a sun-dappled park while I crouched a few yards away. She's the kind of kid who likes to preen but sometimes flashes the big camera-ready smile that I wanted to avoid this time. I wanted a natural look in addition to some posed shots. This is my fav. Renting Lenses Is So Much Fun!

I'm back from a wedding in NY where I played with a rented 14mm Canon pro lens and did some wacky wide-angle shots as a wedding participant, not the paid photographer. I'm going to rent a longer zoom lens next weekend to do a portrait shoot of a 5-year-old at the National Building Museum in their beautiful atrium. The little girl tends to give the big forced grin when the camera is on her, so I want to let her play and capture her unaware. Later this fall, I have two more family on-location shoots planned and a photo coaching workshop. Plenty busy! Oh, and I'm getting supplies together to create some small, 4X5 or so, mounted photos of some of my fine art prints to sell. I'll have a big announcement when they're ready.
